Shamanic Healing: Taking Control of What Is, Was and Never Should Be

The principles that define Shamanic healing are based on the fact that a body that is not filled with spiritual power is prone to get sick, be involved in an accident, or just basically have bad luck. Enlisting the help of a shaman to make the body feel better would mean opening yourself up to the many spiritual principles and truth upon which this particular therapeutic method is based. This healing process involves the restoration of the link between that person and his spiritual power, which in this sense is equivalent to an immune system that helps the body resist disease.

This type of therapeutic process begins with the shaman working to restore that spiritual power to the person, making him whole enough to let his natural spiritual capabilities to work against whatever it is that’s ailing him. In other words, the shaman does not himself make the illness go away, but rather gives the ailing person the ability to basically heal himself with the help of spirits from the non ordinary reality.

In a shamanic sense, there are two types of realities governing our lives on earth: the ordinary reality, which pertains to the plain we see with our bare eyes; and the non ordinary reality wherein which the three shamanic worlds exist. This latter type of reality is where the shamans travel through in order to get higher level of knowledge as well as retrieve lost soul essences that may have been thrown off balance by various types of trauma. This reality shows a person images that are based on his emotions and are hardly ever the same for any individual. Shamanic healing is about accelerating the process of soul retrieval so that an ailing person may have the spiritual help he needs in order to make himself better again.

There are certain processes that a shaman may use for healing purposes:

• Illumination. Aims to cleanse the chakras, or the spiritual centers in the body, by releasing energy that’s stuck itself within them, thus putting these spiritual centers back in balance.

• Extraction. Aims at cleansing the luminous energy field of the body by eradicating negative energies from the past and the present that could be affecting the individual in equally negative ways.

• De-coupling Fight or Flight. This method gives a stressed and burned out body the ability to relax by de-coupling the body’s natural ‘fight or flight’ mechanism.

• Soul retrieval. This requires a journey into the underworld, or the deepest world in the non ordinary reality of shamanic principles wherein a person can gain understanding of what could be holding him back from achieving the life he has always wanted to live. This helps people who are grieving, who are tied down to a repetitive habit that won’t go away, and those who are feeling lost in the midst of the chaos of life, to find the freedom and the strength to finally move forward.

There are many modern methods of treatment available to ailing persons these days. But some would still rather seek for more natural methods like shamanic healing in order to gain for themselves a more lasting sense of well-being.
